Site Clearing
The Skokie
site is currently vacant, undeveloped and predominantly covered with vegetation. The site will
be cleared to provide improved access for equipment necessary to perform the site investigation.
Clearing activities
will be conducted solely to the extent necessary to allow vehicles to access the
site.
Specific clearing
activities include:

Site clearing activities

A tree survey will be conducted to identify all trees greater than 8 inches in diameter at 4.5
feet above grade. These trees will not be cleared.

All vegetation within 5 feet of fencing, around the perimeter of the site, will be left undisturbed.

The remaining site area will be cleared of all trees (less than 8 inches in diameter) and brush,
both to approximately 4 inches above grade.

Brush will be removed to 4 inches above grade and mulched at the location of the brush.

Mulch may be used as ground cover at various locations throughout the site.

No mowing of grass or other vegetation will be conducted during these clearing activities. Hand clearing to approximately 4 inches above grade will be used in the vicinity
of structures or other obstructions as necessary to allow equipment access.

Trees will be cleared and staged for chipping.

Wood Chipper
|
Trees that are cleared will be processed through a chipper, and the wood chips will be
temporarily stockpiled before use on the site as temporary road material and for
surface restoration at test pit and borehole locations.
All ash trees
onsite will be cleared, separately stockpiled and disposed of in accordance with
Illinois Department of Agriculture quarantine requirements and Village of Skokie
ordinance requirements.
Schedule
Clearing activities will take approximately five working days to complete.
